The second EasyMax was delivered to Wagenborg and affiliated owners and taken into service under her official name: Máxima. As a royal company, we are particularly honoured that Her Majesty the Queen of the Netherlands has been pleased to associate her name with our sustainable new-build vessel. The ship left for her maiden voyage to Antwerp from homeport Delfzijl to load wood chips for Copenhagen.
Recently, a so-called Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) system was installed in the oldest Wagenborg tugboat 'Waterpoort' - built in 1962 and equipped with an old Stork Werkspoor engine. With this catalytic converter behind the engine, exhaust gases are treated, so that nitrogen (NOx) is captured. The requirements for emissions are becoming increasingly strict. With this SCR system, we reduce nitrogen emissions by 85% up to stage V level and an older ship such as the 'Waterpoort' can still be used for inland waterways.
Wagenborg Offshore has taken its third walk-to-work vessel (W2W) into service as Keizersborg. Keizersborg is used as a standby and support vessel for inspection and maintenance of unmanned platforms in both Dutch and British waters in the southern North Sea. After the positive experiences with the W2W vessel Kasteelborg, Wagenborg has once again opted to convert a standard Platform Supply Vessel into this specialist offshore vessel. Keizersborg was converted in 16 weeks by the Royal Niestern Sander shipyard and provided with an extra accommodation module and motion compensated gangway.
'Windpark Fryslân' has started building the wind turbines in the IJsselmeer. From March to June 2021, the 89 wind turbines will be shipped, installed and tested. This is the final phase of the construction project and an important milestone for the wind farm. During this phase, Wagenborg will take care of the transport of the blades and tower sections with various tugs and pontoons.
Wagenborg Agencies expands her agency services to Belgium and Finland. As such, the ports of Antwerp, Ghent and Zeebrugge will be serviced from the Terneuzen office and in the Finnish port of Hamina/Kotka a new office will start. From this Finnish office, the Southern part of Finland will be serviced including the Saimaa region.
Royal Wagenborg and Liebherr Nederland B.V. are joining forces to considerably rejuvenate and to augment the sustainability of Wagenborg Nedlift’s crane fleet in the coming years. This way, the existing collaboration between the two family businesses will be strengthened further.
Wagenborg transported the first of five 380 kV transformers. In the early hours of this morning, the fifth and final transformer was given an official and ceremonial reception at the Vierverlaten high-frequency substation, west of Hoogkerk near Groningen.
Last Sunday Wagenborg successfully completed the salvage of the sunken 'West Oder 1' in the Weser near Nienburg in Germany. The waterway has now been reopened to traffic. The Polish dry cargo vessel collided with the Dutch inland vessel 'Timbo' on Sunday 7 August and subsequently sank. Wagenborg was called to salvage the ship.
Various geared multi-purpose vessels in the Wagenborg fleet, delivered subsea cables. The MV Warnowborg shipped 770 km of telecom cables to Santana, in the north of Brazil destined for the Norte Conectado project in the north of the Amazon region. The MV Arubaborg delivered an inter-array cable for the Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm in the port of Blyth.

The shallow draft ice-breaking walk to work vessel is specially designed and optimized for year-round operations in the challenging conditions on the east coast of Sakhalin in temperatures ranging from -30 degrees to +35 degrees. By combining a shallow draught of 3,15m, a transit draught of 4,0 m in open waters and a grounded bottom notation, the vessel can be deployed year-round. With proven Wagenborg icebreaking technology of the icebreaking hull and pulling (ice milling) Azimuth thrusters, the vessel can break through ice up to 100cm. The motion compensated gangway on this vessel is optimized for both winter and summer operations, resulting in multiple gangway positions. The vessel will perform year-round crew transfer services for up to 40 persons from the shallow Nabil Port to offshore platforms near the East Coast of Sakhalin. In addition, the vessel can be deployed for oil spill response services.
Wagenborg Offshore has signed an agreement for the deployment of a walk to work emergency response and rescue vessel (W2W ERRV). This fourth walk to work vessel in the Wagenborg fleet will be operated by Wagenborg Offshore as a standby and support vessel for inspection and maintenance of unmanned platforms in the southern North Sea. With four operational walk to work vessels on the North Sea, Wagenborg can be considered as one of the market leaders in this offshore niche.
